For research on large glaciers it is important to accurately determine the location of the end of a glacier tongue, as glacier characteristics (in particular, glacier length, minimum height) are determined from this reference point. Expert knowledge is necessary when the glacier tongue is covered by moraines and/or debris. Glaciers whose tongue ends are formed, prominent, and not covered by debris or clouds were selected for the study.
Considering the above, let us consider the dynamics of the retreat of the great glaciers of eastern and western Georgia.
